The Global Opportunities (GO) Center is a connecting hub that develops talent for growing exports and creating a global identity for our region. By linking an extensive network of globally focused business, education, government and community partners, the GO Center is helping North Carolina to become a global region of the future.
In 2012, The Global Opportunities (GO) Center began as one of the most expansive public-private partnerships in Greensboro’s history, when leaders from seven higher education institutions, businesses, government, nonprofits and foundations convened to create a vision to catalyze global entrepreneurship in Greensboro and the Triad region. The vision, to establish a center for global entrepreneurship that would leverage existing local resources, gained momentum through the GO Center’s first place prize of $500,000 in Greensboro's Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) Economic Development Challenge, sponsored by the United States Economic Development Administration (EDA). The GO Center launched in January 2016 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and opened our office at HQ Greensboro in downtown's South End in July 2016. There is currently nothing like this anywhere in the United States. Through an unprecedented public private collaboration, the GO Center will establish our region as North Carolina's Global Gateway.
